As you may know, it’s Christmas Day. It’s Christmas time. Happy Christmas, wherever, whoever you are, and whatever you believe.
I considered not sending a newsletter today. But since it’s a day of such unusual working and life patterns, I thought I would. Though the overall open rate will likely be low, a slightly different demographic may engage. Let me know.
In exactly a week it will be 2025. So, of course, many of us will be making New Year’s resolutions. This annual practice is closely related to habit-forming, intentions and timeboxing, and so I have something to say on this (those thoughts 12 months ago).
The strongest intuition I have here is that if you’d like to make such resolutions, buck the trend and go early with them, before New Year’s Eve. Do it now. Or perhaps tomorrow. Call it something else. Make it yours. That’s the point — to do it even more out of your own volition, not dependent on or even influenced by a tradition you didn’t initiate or by a crowd you don’t control. Make it your decision, your timing, your ideas, your success.
I hope it works. I’ve already set one for myself, which I’ll be talking about in a blog in 2025.
Have a lovely day. And a wonderful final week of the year.
I’ll leave you with this very-OTAAT-themed gift, from Jim Carrey:
